Tony O. Martin for Mayor of Beckley WV

"I am confident that with the support of you, and others just like you, I will be elected the next mayor of the City of Beckley."
Tony O. Martin, Candidate for Mayor of Beckley WV

Hi I'm Tony Martin, independent candidate for mayor of Beckley, WV.  Beckley's next mayor must be able to bring people together from all parts of our city regardless of what neighborhood they live in, their social or economic status.  We must work together to build a community where you can swap ideas, ask questions and help each other.

Throughout this campaign I will be going door to door, not only to introduce myself as a candidate, but to begin forming a partnership with the great people of our city and working towards a renewed Beckley that fulfills its untapped potential.

I promise you an all-out, open and vigorous campaign for Beckley, unique from any other you've ever seen.  Most importantly, I intend to govern as I have campaigned, reaching out to residents, listening to their concerns and responding to their questions as clearly and specifically as I can.

With fresh leadership and innovative vision, I know promising days are ahead.  Join us in this grassroots quest, not only to elect me as Beckley's next mayor, but to help build the best Beckley ever.

The decision to change the city's election procedure would appear to be an important opportunity for meaningful citizen participation. Yet on an issue that is as public as it gets, our city leaders have made little or no effort, beyond what is required by law, to inform the public on their decision, let alone make an effort to involve us in the decision making process.

“The potential for Beckley is huge... It’s time we tap into that potential to create new opportunities not only for ourselves, but more importantly for our children. It is for this reason that I decided to run for mayor.” Tony O. Martin

As a city we will capitalize on our potential to provide new opportunity, as residents we will see the future that we want and act to create it.

We will embrace a culture of creativity, entrepreneurship and innovation to help our artistic and small business sectors thrive in a competitive new economy.  The strategy is to encourage our creative class to discover and develop their talents, then use that talent to begin building a more dynamic and vibrant Beckley providing entertainment alongside opportunity.  Learn more

Having an effective people climate is essential to attracting and retaining talented people, stimulating our local economy and attracting new economic development.  Leading Beckley forward begins with listening to its residents.  It requires making sure that our neighborhoods remain the center of a modern and vibrant city. It means fighting to build a responsive city government based on performance, not politics.  Its making sure everyone feels safe on our streets.  Learn more

The key to revitalizing downtown is bringing life downtown.  While showcasing our city's unique identity, we can leverage the interests and assets of the merchant and arts communities on each other, allowing us to create a more compelling downtown experience with a higher level of civic pride and participation.  Learn more
