Beckley utilizes a strong mayor form of government, with the Mayor serving as the Chief Administrative Officer for the City. Much the way our federal and state govenments are administered, the City of Beckley is administered by the Mayor and Common Council, (Mayor = Executive Branch | Council = Legislative Branch). The Common Council of the City of Beckley is comprised of representatives from each of the City's five wards, as well as two councilmen-at-large.
